Okay, so this is why I married him…

This type of thing is why I married Archie…

My little Riley,

I have a few things I would like to share with you. No matter that you are too young to understand now, someday you will.

1) Always remember that you came at a time when you were needed most. I love your mommy and brother, but I needed you. I needed to meet my first flesh & blood relation, I had been waiting my whole life for that. You helped fill the big emptiness in my soul. Remember your blood, it is the most important thing you will ever have. You come from flawed but good strong stock.

2) Because I have made many mistakes in my life, we will never be well off. But you will always have what you need to survive: clothing, food, shelter, and most importantly, lots of love. That is free, and mommy and I have lots of it.

3) I hope you get your mommys intelligence, and a little of my sensitivity. Only a little sensitivity, because too much will hurt. As far as looks go, no worries there because you are already the prettiest little girl ever.

4) I want for you to be curious of everything, to ask questions and learn as much as possible. We will not be able to provide exotic experiences for you, but there is still so much to see and learn.

5) Never be scared. Of yourself, of others, of unknowns. You must always be brave and bold, unafraid of what you don’t know.

6) Speak your mind, always say how you think and feel. Maybe some people will think of you as forward or ill-mannered. You are a child, the world belongs to you. Adults and their opinions are just here for support.

7) The innate goodness that is in you comes from us. Always stop to help someone if you can. Kindness is one of the most underrated attributes that exists today. You will always feel better knowing you made someone smile.

8) When you get older, go many places and see everything, but always come home. We will always have a place for you, in our home as well as our hearts.

Don’t grow up too fast on us, Riley. Be a little girl for as long as you can, childhood is a short period in your life. And you will always be my little girl no matter what age you are.

I love you

It’s super sweet…but I’m making this a friends only post….I don’t think he’d appreciate me advertising it (even though he doesn’t know about LJ).  After this week, I think this made my week.

Sarah
