I’m either insane, or…

Oct 27, 2010 | All About Home, All About Me, Holidays

Oh, who are we kidding?  I’m definitely insane.

It’s not even Halloween.

But I have 85% of Christmas shopping done. (The girls shopping IS done).

I’ve been knitting like mad, and just started sewing…and have many Christmas gift items completed/made in the crafting area and a decent head start on others.

Two days ago I started something. Cookies/Treats for Christmas. My obsession with baking many, many Christmas Cookies has been documented in the past.I make a lot.  And every year (especially last year it seemed) I get really overwhelmed at the first of December.   I have a tendency to put too much on myself and try to accomplish more than is possible.  I think that’s why I started so early this year.

Really early.

The first Christmas gift was purchased in June.

I’ve started making cookies that can be frozen and stored.  So far I’ve made the base for the Oreo Truffles (new this year), and I’ve baked 1 of 3 cakes for cake pops, and I’m getting those centers prepared.  I’m trying to figure out what cookies can be pre-made and frozen with little trouble.  Hopefully all I’ll have to do in December is bake a few batches and frost/candy coat the others.

Final stage is finishing up with the Christmas presents.  I’ve given myself more time to do this than I have in the past…hopefully this year I’ll not freak out and over-stress again.

But I still am a little insane.

    You are NOT insane. If you are, that means I am and, uh, NO. We’ll just be the ones actually enjoying a few days right before Christmas because we’ll be all done. 😉

      @Burgh Baby,

      Of course…one of us could be insane or the other…but not both. So that means logically that we are sane.

      And you’re right. We’ll be able to actually enjoy the holidays instead of panicking that everything is all done.

    I haven’t started thinking about Christmas shopping, not even what I want to get for my friends and family. I am impressed, insane or not.

      @Tara R.,

      That’s usually how I am at this point…and then I’m an insane mess and cursing and praying for money. I wanted to be a little more prepared this year!! I think that so far I’m managing it 😀

    Seriously. You’re my hero. I wish I had the freezer space to pre-bake some things…that would make things much easier! As it stands, our freezer is full of meat and cooked food,ready for easy dinners when I go back to work.

      @Jen L.,

      LOL. We just bought a new stand-alone freezer that’s actually bigger than our fridge this year. I’m in HEAVEN having it here. Now I just wish we could afford to buy half a cow or something…at the least we’re going to shell out some cash to buy a deer from our hunting neighbor.

      But yes…back to the cookies. I feel so much better getting this stuff done early…:D
