The first time I read them I was four years old.
I stole them out of my brothers room and kept them tight.
That original box set still sits on my dresser.
Dog eared.
Worn.
Missing covers.
Now the girls are reading.
Everything they can get their hands on.
Now I pass these stories onto them.
We read together, they try to read alone.
One day I hope their copies are as worn and well loved as mine.
As well as every other book they touch.
The love of reading runs rampant in Archie & I.
I think they’ve caught the bug.
No better addiction to pass on.
LIttle House on the Prairie! I loved that series. Drove the librarians crazy asking for each new book.
Luckily I passed the love of reading to my kids too. Different genres, but they do love to read.
@Tara R.,
I read those books so many times between the ages of 4 and 16…I think it was 18 times in those 12 years…and it’s still my go-to read when I’m feeling nostalgic or just want a happy read.
My oldest didn’t get bit with the reading bug until late in life (like 1 year ago…& hes 13)…but now he reads up anything on the civil war he can get (scary…..non-fic is too dry for me)…and some of the fun kids series.
This makes me soooo happy! One of my fondest memories of my childhood is my mom reading the Little House books aloud to me. We also did Charlotte’s Web and Stuart Little, which I want to start with Dean this summer. So glad your kiddos have the reading bug, too!
@Jen L.,
One of the items on my 45X45 (i.e. bucket) list is to read the whole series aloud to my girls. Now that they’re actually interested in them I’m going to start. So very excited 🙂
I never really cared for Charlotte or Stuart…but Little House and Nancy Drew were my biggest reads back when I was young 😀
