All taken w/ Canon Rebel XS.
As the lead-in states it was a see-saw week. Â Very cold temperatures to start, ending with a gorgeous couple of days. We took advantage of one of the days to go to the zoo. Â You’ll have to go to my Flickr account to see ALL of those pics – only a couple are here.
1. Words
Words are things; and a small drop of ink,
Falling like dew upon a thought, produces
That which makes thousands, perhaps millions, think.
~Lord Byron (Don Juan)

More than Words

2. Under
I’m eighteen years behind in my ironing. ~Phyllis Diller
[flickr id=”6270890265″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”center”]
It’s my ironing board. Yup. Figured it would make for some interesting lines and shadows. Only light is daylight and a flashlight used to cast shadows for fun.
3. Orange
Orange is the happiest color. ~Frank Sinatra

We fancy men are individuals; so are pumpkins; but every pumpkin in the field goes through every point of pumpkin history. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
[flickr id=”6270889887″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”center”]
4. Fly
I had a picture of a bird, but I didn’t want to go typical. I loved the jellyfish…floating and soaring through the water on pure instinct alone.
[flickr id=”6270890809″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”center”]
Another one for a-typical. A leaping lemur mid-flight. I have a much better one in my archives, but I didn’t want to dig this week.

5. Always look on the bright side
The secret of contentment is knowing how to enjoy what you have, and to be able to lose desire for things beyond your reach. ~Lyn Yutang
[flickr id=”6270892247″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”center”]
It was cold, dark, and rainy outside – but bright, warm, and cozy inside.

A Simple Thing:
I have two simple things this week. I simply could not chose. Â First is my girls – who asked me to take a picture of them at the zoo and posed so beautifully for me. Â The second is a zebra picture I took. It’s almost SOOC – I just had to adjust the exposure a tiny bit. Otherwise, no cropping or anything. It makes me so happy at it’s gorgeous simple complexity that I had to add it into my simple things.
[flickr id=”6270891807″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”center”] Â [flickr id=”6271419468″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”center”]

Nice set my favorite is words..
@Saun,
Thanks!! Words is one of my favorites too. I love that book (it’s from 1890 & in excellent condition).
Interesting under shot. I am trying to guess what it is
@Valeria,
Thanks! It’s my ironing board. I thought it would be fun and different to photograph.
i’m glad you said it was your ironing board because i wouldnt have figured it out otherwise!
@kamana,
LOL! I know. Once I got it edited straight on I knew it would be tough to figure out!! I’m glad I was able to stump some people with it!
That zebra capture is amazing…such cool eyelashes! Very creative set!
@Cedar,
Aren’t those eyelashes amazing?! I love the way the face lines lead into the body lines…it was such a shock to pull the pictures off my camera and see how well that one came out. My kids were so distracting I wasn’t sure I was able to get any shots at all ~LOL~
Gorgeous shots! Love your take on Fly and Words.
@kewkew,
Thank you so much. Words was my favorite for sure. I had a lot of fun setting those up and taking them.
some really beautiful shots in this group
@Tiaras & Tantrums,
Thank you! I thought it would be a stale week but it’s turned out to be one of my favorites!!
The zoo animal shots are lovely. The last one of the zebra is stunning. The lines and texture are so beautiful.
@Tara R.,
Thank you so much Tara! It was a gorgeous day for the zoo. I just wish we’d gone to the tiger habitat before it was so crowded I might have been able to add some amazing tiger shots too! Ah well, I’m thrilled with what I have anyway 😀
I love your “Under”. Lovely captures!
@Jennifer,
Thanks! It just hit me as I was looking for something to shoot ‘under’ when it was to cold and rainy to get anything outside…and the minute I saw the ironing board I knew that was it!
What great photos!
@Sarah @ Crafting and Creativity,
Thanks so much! I have a lot of fun w/ my camera when I’m challenged…and when I can make time to be creative. This week was perfect for that!
A beautiful set of photos!
Kathy
@Kathy,
Thank you, Kathy. Some weeks I just come back to look again and again while others I cower in shame ~lol~ I think this will be a week I return to often 😀
Love the Zebra, it’s my favorite animal print.
@gena,
Haha…I’ve never been into animal prints…but all of a sudden I’m loving zebra. Hubby & I are talking about using that when we re-style our bedroom. We just love it 😀
Great shots – I especially love Under…made me think for a minute!
@Patrice P,
I’m glad I could make you think! I figured it would be a difficult one to decipher. I’m just glad hubby didn’t walk in while I was setting this up for the photo shoot. He would have thought I’d lost my marbles.
so pretty, stopping by from simple as that. i’d love to have you stop by my blog and checkout the awesome (and huge $100) giveaway going on- http://thelovelypoppy.blogspot.com/2011/10/blog-follower-giveaway.html xoxo nicole
Such a beautiful collection – I love the creative angle on under.
@Ashley Sisk,
Thanks, Ashley! The past couple of weeks I’ve had a couple of prompts that I’ve struggled with at first…and in the end they end up being among my favorites!
I love the zebra, great shot!
@Claire,
Thanks! The zebra is a picture I am very proud of. One day I plan on putting it up in my house as decoration.
I absolutely LOVE the zebra pic! Gorge!
Very nice photos. The “Words” were really great.
I liked the Jellyfish floating/flying.
Love the photo of your sweet girls and also the Zebra photo.
Stunning zebra shot. I really liked your quotes too : )
Very cool shots. Love the Bright Side shots!
That zebra photo is absolutely incredible. I am envious!
LOVE the DOF on the first two. Most excellent!
#4, I am not singing, “I like to move it, move it.” *sigh*
And the zebra. OMG GREAT SHOT!!! WOW
@Denise,
LOL!! I sing that song every time I see Lemur island at the zoo. I have some awesome shots of them leaping and dancing in my archives at flickr. All the animals were a little lazy this weekend – so for real good lemur shots are archived 😀
Thank you 😀 I love the zebra shot. It’s one I’m exceptionally proud of.
great perspective on the zebra!
love all the photos … so fun to look at .. coming from the simple things link up!
I really love the Words & More than Words shot. SO very sentimental and simple at the same time!
