Welcome back to the Weekend Writing Warriors!
I’m still keeping you all intrigued with the beginning of the series [amazon_link id=”B00BEMN5SC” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Changing Tracks (The Dominion Falls Series book 1)[/amazon_link].
I’m continuing directly after last week where Cole admitted to Jane that he didn’t know how to do anything close to a relationship, Jane thinks the conversation is over, but it’s not quite yet:
“Whores are all I know.”
“Somehow I doubt that, but I’ll take it for now.” She tried to step out of his embrace, but he held her firm, “Yes?”
“You’re complicating things.” His voice held a gruff note, “I’m used to simple.”
Jane laughed; it only took a gentle tug to pull herself free and spin around, “I thought you liked a challenge.”
“I thought I did too,” Cole’s lips drew up into a wicked grin, “You and your damn words are making me think I could do without.”
“You’d be so bored.”
*Creative editing was used, I admit it…:D

I love how she is playing it. I started reading the book too. 🙂
Thanks, Linda! Cole and Jane might infuriate you at times…but rest assured in the end they always do right. 🙂 I’m so glad you’re reading it! I hope you enjoy.
Hmmm quite the battle of wills here. I hope he is worth it!
Sometimes he’s a bit stupid jerk…but sometimes she’s just as much of an idiot…In the end they both prove to be worth it, I think 🙂
Oh I don’t think Jane will be simple, no indeed! Very intriguing excerpt, enjoying this story.
LOL. No, Veronica, Jane is many things…but simple will never be one of them. 😀
I love this snippet. both of their characters come through clearly and I like their energy together
Thank you, Michelle! I do love expressing my characters through dialogue. 😀
Hey thanks for the comment and sorry I missed you first go around. Yeah I remember this one –I chucked – my Mr.. Thomas very similar to Cole
LOL. Thanks, Sue. Cole struggles for some time to grow and change…in fact after book 1 you may wonder if he ever does…then again you’re still wondering after book 3. lol. I enjoy reading about your Mr. Thomas and can’t wait to see more of him.
giggle – you don’t get the full gist of him i the piece I posted. But the novel is slowly being written
I think he’s definitely found a challenge in her. Maybe more than he can deal with? Great eight
Thanks, Anne! Yes, he has found a challenge, and so has she…question is can they deal with each other?
Hee! I love her damn words, and I love a girl who stays true to who she is. The reward is always greater with a challenge. 😉
🙂 So does Cole, even though he frequently complains about her words…they are what make him love her more in the end. 😀
And yes, the reward is very great when there’s a challenge involved.
That was great. Love guys who get confused by a challenging woman. 🙂
LOL. Thanks, Heather. I love it when the guy gets confused by that too. 😀
Challenges are fun, though. 😉
Nice back and forth!
Whoa, that first line snagged my interest! And yeah, she’s making him think twice about wanting a challenge!! Nice dialogue. 🙂
LOL great snippet! Love that last line. 😀
Oh I like that she has knocked him off his game and hasn’t a clue what to do about her. This should be fun! I think he’s gruff only because she has disrupted his status quo. Good snippet!
