This week’s challenge word was “Worthless”. For some reason this time it inspired a poem. I’m going to entitle it “HOPE”.
HOPE
Ripped open
I bled for you
Rivers of tears
There was something so wrong
It was me
It was you
Ashamed within
I tried so hard
Afraid of you
It was nothing close to love
It wasn’t me
It was you
New chance
New, different pain
It’s nothing new
Somehow it is always my fault
It wasn’t me
It was you
Torn down
Trod on
Broken hearted ache
Physical pain, emotional destruction
It could be me
It could be them
What is this
A new life
Growing within
No longer worthless, alone; there’s hope
It wasn’t me
It was him
Lovely piece, this. Well done.
Thanks, Lou. The word this week certainly had an impact. I’m glad you liked it.
Wow! I like this.
Thanks, Cheryl! I think I’ll be entering it into a contest I found tonight (along w/ a couple other poems I have lying around).
Wow, well done!! You should DEFINITELY enter it in a contest.
Thanks V.R.!! Sometimes things just flow out so easily and you know they’re right! The biggest issue was getting it TO 100 words! I had 93 and felt it was done, so I had to adjust it up a little 🙂
Ohhh Sara, your poem takes me full circle in so few words with such eloquence. Beautifully written.
Thank you, Teresa. It’s always cathartic to put out something like this. As much as I enjoy my writing, poetry is always thoroughly cathartic for me!
