In the morning when you rise
I bless the sun, I bless the skies
I bless your lips, I bless your eyes
My blessing goes with you

In the nighttime when you sleep
Oh I bless you while a watch I keep
As you lie in slumber deep
My blessing goes with you

This is my prayer for you
There for you, ever true
Each, every day for you
In everything you do

And when you come to me
And hold me close to you
I bless you
And you bless me, too

When your weary heart is tired
If the world would leave you uninspired
When nothing more of love’s desired
My blessing goes with you

When the storms of life are strong
When you’re wounded, when you don’t belong
When you no longer hear my song
My blessing goes with you

Before I had a family of my own. Before I had my writing. When I felt out of place everywhere.
The stage was my first true love. The place where I felt most at Home.
To this day, the minute I pull out my shoes and slip them on, or gaze over the sheet music I’ve used for auditions and in the shows themselves I’m transported back. A sense of relief and relaxation.
For this week, Fraser challenged me with “Home” and I challenged Maren with “Music.”

[flickr id=”5888954984″ thumbnail=”small” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”left”]For many years when he was little all we ever heard was that he wanted to grow up and work at NASA. Space was the thing. That was it. No questions asked.
Then around fifth grade there was a weird flakiness that popped in and he said he wanted to be a birdwatcher.
A BIRDWATCHER?
Archie & I both cringed and hoped it was one of those things that would pass.
Thankfully it did.
Tonight I learned something new.
He wants to be a doctor.
Not just a doctor.
He wants to work at Riley Hospital.
That’s our hospital. The one we’ve been going to since Angel was a baby. That we’ve seen so many specialists in.
We love Riley Hospital.
Now we know that our kids love it just as much.
Big dreams.
But the kid is brilliant. Being a doctor is something I know he could do.
If he worked at Riley Hospital – nothing would ever make me prouder than to have my son pass on the love and caring to more families. To grow from being a patient at an amazing children’s hospital – to being a doctor at an amazing children’s hospital.

It’s the last of a first. The last child to lose her first tooth (Riley lost hers last year at this time – almost the exact same tooth).
My baby girl is growing up. She’s giving me a new stream of last of the firsts.
She’s still so little. Some days it’s easy to pretend she’s still my baby girl.
But every day I must face a little more that all my baby days are gone. I’ve just got big kids now.
All grown up and growing up faster every day.
A teenager. Two girls in elementary school.
I still don’t know how that happened.

Halloween, a new job, gorgeous sunrises and lack of time led to a hectic lead up to my Scavenger Hunt items!
1. Food
Sweets grown common lose their dear delight. ~William Shakespeare

2. Purple
A box of new crayons! Now they’re all pointy, lined up in order, bright and perfect. Soon they’ll be a bunch of ground down, rounded, indistinguishable stumps, missing their wrappers and smudged with other colors. Sometimes life seems unbearably tragic. ~Bill Watterson
[flickr id=”6317131944″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”center”]
*There is no purple anymore. The “purple” crayon is called violet. Why is there no purple anymore? Who needs fancy names in crayons?
Knitting is very conducive to thought. It is nice to knit a while, put down the needles, write a while, then take up the sock again. ~Dorothy Day

3. In Disguise
I call them Thing One and Thing Two. ~Dr. Seuss
[flickr id=”6316611851″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”center”]
Tell: I call them Thing 1 and Thing 2 as well. Of course, Thing 1 is the older of the two. They already had the t-shirts & I just knew this would make a quick & cheap costume idea. The girls had a blast.

Society is a masked ball, where every one hides his real character, and reveals it by hiding. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

4. Shapes
I am not going to die, I’m going home like a shooting star. ~Sojourner Truth

Lying in bed would be an altogether perfect and supreme experience if only one had a colored pencil long enough to draw on the ceiling. ~G.K. Chesterton

What a splendid thing watercolor is to express atmosphere and distance, so that the figure is surrounded by air and can breathe in it. ~Vincent van Ghogh

Rays from the sunrise drew forth the buds and stretched them into long stalks, lifted up sap in noiseless streams, opened petals, and sucked out scents in invisible jets and breathings. ~Thomas Hardy

A Simple Thing:
The first sunrise picture I took this week. It’s SOOC and makes me happy.

So I am going to take part in Friday Fragments. I’m really good at random bullet point list posts – and this is no exception.
****Today I got raving mad. Furious. I was literally shaking in my anger. Once again it was about Riley’s school. Archie is trying to remain calm and logical in the stead of my anger. I’m not handling it.
****The job at the library is great. I’m really enjoying it. We’re still trying to working on the kid-care details. We have hope, but nothing solid yet.
****Just did a spot check of lungs on the kids. So many bugs going around.
****I’ve had no luck fitting photography into my schedule this week. It sucks. Hoping tomorrow I get around to it.
****I have however, found time for my writing. Latest novel almost done. Plus, I started a WIP collaborating w/ my good friend using weekly challenges from Indie Ink. It’s so much fun to participate.
****Speaking of Indie Ink. they have a new weekly photo challenge. SO excited to take part in it’s initial launch week this week!
That’s good for now. Busy watching Green Lantern now. TTFN
