Friday Fragments

[flickr id=”5230179046″ thumbnail=”small” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”left”] Another Friday Fragments installment!

****On my first day of working at the library I was warned that it’s as bad as working at a school with all the illness that goes around. Turns out they weren’t lying. I just started a week ago and already I’m sick as a dog.

****Last night I had a dream that I met Hugh Jackman. The only thing I said to him?  “Wow, you really are tall!” Yup, even in dreams I’m a total dork.

****I have a dog again. Well, she’s not ours to keep, but we’re dog sitting my parents dog. She’s always a welcome addition to our house. The kids love her and she is a sweetheart.

****My job is seriously cutting into my photography time. I’ve gotten nothing done again this week.

****In just over a week I’ll have a post up at Band Back Together. First time submitting a post somewhere else.

****While I’m not actively participating in NaNoWriMo, I’ve managed to get 20k words written so far this month. I’m feeling productive at least a little bit.

Time to take some Nyquil and pass out.

The Blessing

In the morning when you rise
I bless the sun, I bless the skies
I bless your lips, I bless your eyes
My blessing goes with you

In the nighttime when you sleep
Oh I bless you while a watch I keep
As you lie in slumber deep
My blessing goes with you

This is my prayer for you
There for you, ever true
Each, every day for you
In everything you do

And when you come to me
And hold me close to you
I bless you
And you bless me, too

When your weary heart is tired
If the world would leave you uninspired
When nothing more of love’s desired
My blessing goes with you

When the storms of life are strong
When you’re wounded, when you don’t belong
When you no longer hear my song
My blessing goes with you

It’s Like Coming Home…

[flickr id=”6327973666″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”center”]

Before I had a family of my own. Before I had my writing. When I felt out of place everywhere.

The stage was my first true love. The place where I felt most at Home.

To this day, the minute I pull out my shoes and slip them on, or gaze over the sheet music I’ve used for auditions and in the shows themselves I’m transported back. A sense of relief and relaxation.

For this week, Fraser challenged me with “Home” and I challenged Maren with “Music.”

Weekly Winners – Falling Back Edition

All taken w/ Canon Rebel XS.

Halloween, a new job, gorgeous sunrises and lack of time led to a hectic lead up to my Scavenger Hunt items!

1. Food
Sweets grown common lose their dear delight. ~William Shakespeare
[flickr id=”6316614157″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”center”]

2. Purple
A box of new crayons! Now they’re all pointy, lined up in order, bright and perfect. Soon they’ll be a bunch of ground down, rounded, indistinguishable stumps, missing their wrappers and smudged with other colors. Sometimes life seems unbearably tragic. ~Bill Watterson
[flickr id=”6317131944″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”center”]
*There is no purple anymore. The “purple” crayon is called violet. Why is there no purple anymore? Who needs fancy names in crayons?

Knitting is very conducive to thought. It is nice to knit a while, put down the needles, write a while, then take up the sock again. ~Dorothy Day

3. In Disguise
I call them Thing One and Thing Two. ~Dr. Seuss
[flickr id=”6316611851″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”center”]
Tell: I call them Thing 1 and Thing 2 as well.  Of course, Thing 1 is the older of the two.  They already had the t-shirts & I just knew this would make a quick & cheap costume idea. The girls had a blast.

What a splendid thing watercolor is to express atmosphere and distance, so that the figure is surrounded by air and can breathe in it. ~Vincent van Ghogh

Rays from the sunrise drew forth the buds and stretched them into long stalks, lifted up sap in noiseless streams, opened petals, and sucked out scents in invisible jets and breathings. ~Thomas Hardy

A Simple Thing:
The first sunrise picture I took this week. It’s SOOC and makes me happy.

Weekly Winners – Nature Wins Edition

All taken w/ Canon Rebel XS.

A couple selections might be a stretch. I was swamped this week & didn’t get as many pictures as maybe I could have. Also, it got COLD this week. It didn’t make me excited to get out. Then again – at least it didn’t snow here!

1. Macro/Close-up
Green little vaulter, in the sunny grass, Catching your heart up at the feel of June, Sole noise that’s heard amidst the lazy noon, When ev’n the bees lag at the summoning brass.

3. Home

4. Cover
 [flickr id=”6293298635″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”center”]
Tell: It’s what we use to cover our little imperfections. Makeup. I wanted to do something different than a dead on shot – enter my trusty mirror & the reflection. Ordinary objects take on new life.

5. The Tree
For a tree to become tall it must grow tough roots among the rocks. ~Friedrich Nietzsche

Autumn burned brightly, a running flame through the mountains, a torch flung to the trees. ~Faith Baldwin

Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree. ~Emily Bronte

Autumn is like a second spring where every leaf is a flower. ~Albert Camus
[flickr id=”6293824018″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”small” group=”” align=”center”]

A Simple Thing:
One of our prompts this week was “The Tree.” It was the one above all the others that spoke to me. I love getting trees caught in the lens of my camera. Every shot is different in so many ways. Today’s simple thing is a shot of our tree in the front yard that has some moss growing on it’s north face. I got a good close up shot of the bark. Textural, abstract.
