Photo Mojo Returns

Jan 8, 2012 | Photography, Scavenger Hunt Sunday, Simple Things, Weekly Winners

After a few blah months where my camera languished in silence, I felt a bit revitalized this week. I think having a “take everywhere” camera in my new phone has helped a little.

All taken w/ Canon Rebel XS or my HTC Thunderbolt.

1. One Color
“Of all the hues, reds have the most potency. If there is one electric blue, a dozen reds are so charged. Use them to punctuate white, burn into bronzes, or dynamite black.” — Jack Lenor Larsen.

We went from no Barbie dolls to a dozen in a matter of days (Thanks, Santa).
P.S. There is a dozen, but one’s face is hidden, count the exposed arms. LOL.

5. Soft
Instead of going w/ a soft item, I chose soft focus of a flame.

A Simple Thing:
First a gorgeous sunset, followed the next day by a most beautiful sunrise.

      @My Life As…,

      Thanks! That’s my favorite shot as well. I almost missed it, too. I was just leaving the room when the picture caught my eye. I hadn’t even seen the prompts yet and had to get the shot!

      @Mad Mind,

      Thank you! I had plenty of soft items around the house, but somehow actual soft never transfers to camera well for me…and this just seemed like a good idea.

      @Sara Smo,

      Thank you, Sara! I had to get into an uncomfortable position to take the laundry shot…but it was worth it!

    Really like your laundry and the quote that goes with it. Also the first empty shot is very appealing.

      @Andrea Dawn,

      😀 I love finding fun quotes to go with the pictures. I don’t always succeed, but the minute I saw the laundry quote I knew I had to use it LOL

      @christine e-e,

      ~nods~ I ADORE quotes. I even created a character w/ a photographic memory of quotes she has read. I loved weaving them into her stories 😀

      Thanks! I tried to get a picture of empty swings, but it didn’t turn out as startling as the picture I used. The splash of color won over the all brown picture of swings LOL

    Your one color is quite dramatic and I love your perspective and post work on the playground equipment!

      Thanks so much, Cedar. One Color was taken before I even knew of the prompt. It was serendipitous since it was my favorite shot 😉

      @Linda R,

      Thanks so much, Linda! The empty jungle gym was my exit shot. I knew the swing set wouldn’t work, and those bars caught my eye! So glad I went ahead and took those shots as well!

      @Tara R.,

      Thank you, Tara!! I had another pic for empty, but I preferred the two that I ended up posting.

      The sunset and sunrise are definitely among my favs too. I almost burned dinner because I saw the sunset and had to drive out to where I could catch it 😀 Hubby was home, but he would have totally not heard the timer 😉

    Very nice series. I like your laundry shot (would not have thought to just capture a portion of the inside of the machine.) I also really liked the empty swings/park shot.

    I saw “Empty” immediately looked at the treadmills and thought “Yup!” because I’m not going near one…
    Then I paid attention. 😉

      Hehe. Believe it or not I actually went near a treadmill this year. I’ve never been on a treadmill in my life!
