Hump Day Hook 39 – The Tribe

VelliAnother Hump Day Hook!

I’m not sure how many more hooks from The Tribe there will be. There may be a break coming up ahead…but we’ll see. 😀  It all depends on the muse.

In this weeks offering Velli has unintentionally made a friend. She bucks against the friendship regularly, but Kai doesn’t care:

“Bitch.”

“Takes one to know one.” Kai laughed brightly. A second later she hopped to her feet. “Can’t have a good movie without popcorn. Make sure you pick one with a super-hot guy. One of those superhero movies or something. They’re always stacked.”

“You’re sick, Kai.”

“Said the stripper to the doctor.”

“Bite me.”

Hump Day Hook 38 – The Tribe

I’m diving back into The Tribe this week.  I’ve started edits on Dark Territory, but in between I’m still working on The Tribe. The more I work on it again, the more I remember how much I love it.

This time I’m presenting you with Reed, my heroines husband (arranged marriage, they’re best friends) and the hero – Kane.  Neither of the men can find Velli, despite numerous means of searching. They both know something is very wrong…oh, and they don’t get along so well:

“Whatever you are doing isn’t working. So how can you be sure? There’s something seriously wrong. Don’t you get that?”

Kane shoved aside the lingering aches and flew to his feet.  With a roar, he grabbed Reed by the throat and slammed him against the nearest tree. “Don’t you think we know when there’s something wrong with our mates?”

“She almost died.” The words were choked, but Reed managed to say them clear and calm.

“I know, you stupid deer.”

Not going to give you much background on this one…just leaving it as is:

“No.” She whispered. “I’m trying to find you.”

A sniff at her neck was the only warning before he bit down hard.

Velli fought against the urge to cry out in pain.

You will destroy them. Selfish. He bit harder and flung her against a wall before he turned and raced away.

Onto the hook!  No details behind this one…it would give things away 😉  :

Why did this have to happen again? Damn him. “Damn you, Cole Mitchell. You made me lie to you. I never lied to you until that moment. How could you do that to me? How could you? I wouldn’t have made you—”

Hump Day Hook 35 – The Tribe

KaneAnother Hump Day Hook!

The Tribe has actually been written in first draft for about two years now. Last year I started to rewrite it, but hit a road block a year ago and haven’t touched it since.  This past week I got re-energized to pick it back up.

<–That over there is Kane…yummy, no?  He’s my MMC, and Nirvelli is my FMC. They are fab, although Velli is by far my most damaged character ever (and that’s saying something, you know?).

Velli does not trust easily and has just finally gotten up the guts to trust Kane, but he’s ordered away, leaving her when she’s at a vulnerable time:

“Vels.” He stepped back and hooked a finger under her chin. When he lifted her gaze to his, he took a shaky breath. “Tell me you trust me. I need you to trust me now.”

“Promise.”

“I promise. I’ll be back for you. I’ll take you away before I let them hurt you.”

Hump Day Hook 34 – Leap

violinAnother Hump Day Hook!

Even though Derailed’s release date is tomorrow (or I thought it was when I scheduled this post…now, it looks like this is not true), I’m not showing you anything from that. As of the time of me scheduling this I don’t have any buy links and I plan to do a giveaway for y’all with it next week.

In its place…this week I’m showing you a tiny little hook from my latest piece. It’s going to be a short (possibly erotic) story of the paranormal variety.  I’m hoping to keep it under 10k.

So without further ado, please meet Jayde & Magnar:

A slow smile curved her lips and his pants grew tighter. Damn, she would be the death of him, as he was assigned to be for her. Her aqua eyes scanned him from top to bottom, and she tilted her head. “How long ago did you die?”

“I don’t remember.”

“I’m guessing twenty, maybe thirty years.” She took another step closer. “Do you remember what you did in life?”

“Of course not.” No Keeper ever remembered their life.
