Ready for another Book Hook?
Since you all enjoyed my reunion/Christmas story intro last week, I’m going to stick with it. Remember as you read, Ivy and Alan last saw each other (and slept together) 8 years ago. There is more to this scene, to be shown in the coming weeks…but I’m sure you can guess what conclusions are being leapt to here:
“Justina. Come here, baby.” Ivy waved over the young girl and smoothed her hand over the chestnut hair when she drew close. Justina pressed into her side and Ivy looked up at Alan. “This is Justina, my daughter. Justina, this is an old friend of mine. It’s Miss Dotty’s son. You’ve seen his picture at her house.”
“Hello.” Justina’s voice was small and timid, her greeting out of required politeness.
“Hello.” Alan’s jaw set tight. “It’s nice to meet you. How old are you?”
“Seven.”
That did it. Alan shut down cold as ice, anger clouding the hints of regret he’d carried a few seconds ago.

Alan Richards returns to Lake Point for the holidays, counting the minutes until he can accomplish the dreaded goal of dealing with his aging parents and get back to the city. Finding his former soul mate living in the town they left together and swore they’d never return to tosses his ordered plans right on their head.
Ivy Nowell has never looked back since she left the city and her ballet career to raise her daughter in Lake Point. Alan’s homecoming dredges up old hurts and the love she never quite let go, but he hasn’t changed, with his relentless commitment to goals that differ completely from hers.
The attraction and instant understanding between them lingers, but neither are who they used to be. Alan wants to give it a chance, but Ivy is worried he’ll change his mind and won’t risk hurting her daughter.
It’ll take Santa and all his magic to keep them from walking away from each other again, maybe for forever this time.

Back to Hump Day Hook!
Another week of [amazon_link id=”B00FE1AVOU” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Dark Territory[/amazon_link]. I’m not ready to give her up just yet. But, this will be the last week for a little bit. My Christmas story will be out in just over a month, so I’ll be introducing you to Ivy and Alan in preparation for its release!
This week we’re supposed to do something spooky…which wasn’t my plan for the last week of visiting Dominion Falls for a while…but…then again, it’s pretty good. This is told from the POV of my villain…as he’s seeing Jane – or is it Constance? Is all of this really happening?
Any thoughts of keeping silent fled as her temper flared. “You’ve killed and hurt innocent people for your revenge. You’re deranged.”
She disappeared into the shadows, reappearing a moment later. No. It couldn’t be. How is it she looked like Constance? Constance was gone. What did she do?
“Constance.” A burning pain ripped through his stomach a moment before he heard the small pop of a gun.
“You will not die easily, Alan, but you will die for the pain you caused me. You wanted me to love you. You wanted me to join you.”
“Constance. You did.” It wasn’t Constance. It couldn’t be.

Welcome back to the Weekend Writing Warriors!
I’m still keeping you all intrigued with the beginning of the series [amazon_link id=”B00BEMN5SC” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Changing Tracks (The Dominion Falls Series book 1)[/amazon_link].
I’m continuing directly after last week where Cole admitted to Jane that he didn’t know how to do anything close to a relationship, Jane thinks the conversation is over, but it’s not quite yet:
“Whores are all I know.”
“Somehow I doubt that, but I’ll take it for now.” She tried to step out of his embrace, but he held her firm, “Yes?”
“You’re complicating things.” His voice held a gruff note, “I’m used to simple.”
Jane laughed; it only took a gentle tug to pull herself free and spin around, “I thought you liked a challenge.”
“I thought I did too,” Cole’s lips drew up into a wicked grin, “You and your damn words are making me think I could do without.”
“You’d be so bored.”

Back to Hump Day Hook!
Another week of [amazon_link id=”B00FE1AVOU” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Dark Territory[/amazon_link].
In a flattering turn, I’ve been asked for more books in the series by more than one source. I do have at least two more books plotted out (probably a third, maybe 4th) to continue Jane and Cole’s story…but I haven’t had a chance to finish rewriting them to my liking.
But as I’m working to make more intricate and exciting plots, I’m still bringing you another week or two of Dark Territory. After that I’ll probably start teasing you with either my short story or my Christmas release 😉
This week Cole is on a mission to recover the funds Jane hid in another territory, far from the mad-man, long before she lost her memory. In a convoluted plan, he has taken on another identity in order to withdraw what Jane believes is “a few thousand dollars” from the bank, which in 1871 is a ton of money in itself. The plan works, but he’s about to find out Jane was very wrong about something:
Cole gave a short nod, unwilling to give away his rate of tension. Once Louis stepped away from the desk, Cole leaned forward more to look in the folder. For a long minute he studied the initial signature for the account, relieved to see it was something he could easily copy.
He gave a quick glance to the number written at the bottom of the top sheet. His body went numb, and he slid back in his chair. Nerves threatened to bring back favorite habits, but he sat still. His jaw clenched tight, he stared at the desk before him. It was far easier than thinking too hard about the number he’d seen, $15,973.89.

Continuing just a few paragraphs away from last week when Cole all but admitted his jealousy…we come back to him and Jane. Here Cole admits that he doesn’t know what he’s doing attempting anything close to a relationship:
“Jane.” The full length of him pressed into her back, his hands grasping her elbows in a firm but gentle hold. “I don’t know how.”
“How to what?” She remained still during his silence to give him time to come up with anything. Part of her hoped he’d admit the weakness, the rest of her feared he’d retaliate with a sarcastic answer. No answer came, which comforted her fear enough that she relaxed back against him. She set her hand on his, “I noticed.”
*Next week will follow this up, because the rest needs to be said and seen 😉
